John Marx

John Marx has been a sports writer (10 years) and columnist (15 years) for The Dispatch/The RockIsland Argus and QConline. In his 25 years in the business, he has covered Major League Baseball, The University of Iowa and the University of Illinois football, basketball and wrestling. He covered the CBA, the Midwest League and the Arena Football League. In addition to his work in print,John hosted a local talkradio sports show for seven years (AM 1170) and is the substitute host for two newstalk shows on WOC AM 1420. He has also hosted several sports specials for WQAD TV in the Quad-Cities and covered the 2010 Orange Bowl for WQAD. John also coaches high school football and baseball at Alleman High School in Rock Island and was an associate scout for the Houston Astros for 10 years. John was the baseball consultant and played the manager in the critically acclaimed baseball movie "Sugar'' shot in the Quad-Cities and Burlington, Iowa. The native Quad-Citian lives in Betendorf, Iowa, with his wife, Tonya, a Quad-Cities-based attorney and his son, Jack. He calls his time bringing MC22 high school football, basketball, Arena Football and Midwest League Baseball broadcasts to light: "The most fun I've had in my 25 years in the business.''
