Hazel Green, WI – The Wisconsin high school football season enters it’s second week and with it comes a brand new football team, the Southwestern-East Dubuque War Cats. MC22 will be broadcasting the first home game in program history from Southwestern High School. The War Cats were formed after the 2021 season presented challenges for both schools. Southwestern’s 2021 campaign ended early when the team was unable to fill a lineup due to a majority of their players injured or sick. East Dubuque’s enrollment has been trending downward, and was expecting to have a hard time putting a football roster together in the upcoming years. In January, the schools approved the co-op but the WIAA had placed a two-year playoff ban on the new team due to them being past the deadline. An appeal was unsuccessful but the team plans to hold a week 10 game on a college campus following the season.

The Boscobel Bulldogs (0-1) come to Hazel Green after a disappointing 36-0 game in week one that was called at halftime due to weather at Royall. Lukas Whiteaker completed 9 out of 15 passes for 83 yards. T.J. Bell had 15 yards of offense and recorded nine tackles in the loss. The War Cats (1-0) were victorious over Riverdale in their first ever game as a co-op with Bradey Huseman scoring the first ever touchdown on a goal-line run early in the second quarter, and a second touchdown later in the game.  The War Cats rolled past Riverdale 32-14. Broadcast of tonight’s non-conference game is on Channel 722, as well as at https://mc22.net/blog/2022/08/26/wi-hsfb-boscobel-vs-southwestern-east-dubuque/
